• Uncovered in Amble!

Wow, never in over thirty five years of sail making & rigging have I been able to work in comfort at our local marina at seven o clock on a March evening! Furthermore up at Amble marina in Northumberland this Wednesday afternoon it was so warm that I had to start removing items of clothing, not a pretty sight I can assure you! Last year in the middle of July it was thermals & foulies. The warm weather however has put a tremendous strain on the sail loft as guys who would usually want their freshly laundered checked over & repaired sails collected a couple of weeks after Easter now want them yesterday. So sorry if we have kept you waiting, we are working all hours to get you out on the water! Don't forget that on Good Friday & Easter Monday we are open, (slightly reduced hours) with loads of free Easter eggs as usual to be given away while stocks last. Good Friday 9:30 - 4:00 Easter Saturday 8:30 - 5:00 Easter Sunday Closed Easter Monday 9:30 - 4:00

  • Flying from our sail loft

Our police 'record' must be getting around, with our sail loft being once asked if they could make a 'hot water blanket' for their spotter plane. The blanket kept the engine warm so response time was dramatically shortened. Anyway now it's a fitted cover to keep the keel (as its called) on this micro light aircraft free from bird droppings! Life is never dull in the sail loft, cos apart from me cracking the whip, which the girls enjoy, or should it be me! they in their spare time make up fabric components for Lotus! Dust covers for a well know cosmetics company & of course sails, covers & canopies for yachts & powerboats. Sail Loft produces cover for Microlight
