The OLAS system uses technology to create a wearable crew tracking and overboard location alert system.
The Float-On is a waterproof, floating pocket torch which uniquely integrates Exposure’s MOB technology. A multi-functional safety aid and flashlight for both novice and experienced boaters.
When thrown overboard, or worn by a person going overboard, it will float. MOB technology senses 6 seconds of water connection and activates the strobe light, flashing once every second for up to 24 hours, visible up to 3 nautical miles away. Separated and sunken water connection terminals ensure the MOB technology is only active when submerged in water
Fitting in the palm of a hand, a feature button offers easy location in the dark. The lens is effective as a distance torch whilst also emitting side light to ensure complete all-round visibility when acting as a position indicating light or strobe. The Float-On can be easily stowed on any existing safety gear or in a lifejacket pocket.

In an MOB situation OLAS will sound an alarm and record the latitude and longitude of the incident using the phone or tablet's GPS. In the event that the skipper or a crew member has gone overboard OLAS helps direct the remaining crew on a successful MOB recovery and communication with emergency services
NOTE: The OLAS app will give directions back to the last known alert GPS position as recorded by the mobile device when the incident occurred. The OLAS app does not live track the OLAS torch location after the connection has broken. The OLAS torch is not a GPS transmitter.
With a clear line of sight your OLAS Float-On torch connects with the APP for up to 50 meters range. However it is advised that the OLAS system is used on yachts up to 50ft (15.25m) as other elements, such as masts and superstructures, can cause signal loss. It is important to keep the mobile/tablet in a location which achieves connection at all points, this should be checked when the Tags are initially synced.
MOB ALERT SCREENS
The compass gives a simple clear visual aid to steer to the direction where the alert occurred. An arrow points to the logged coordinates and tells you the compass bearing and distance to return to the incident co-ordinates.
Alert GPS Coordinates
The Alert Latitude and Longitude are stored along with the time of the incident and the vessels current Latitude and Longitude. This is displayed clearly on the screen allowing the user to easily inform the rescue services of the important information.
VHF Distress Procedure
OLAS APP walks you through making a DSC Distress alert and MAYDAY call. In a stressful situation it’s easy for even experienced sailors to ‘go blank’. Every second is vital.
Pre-set your OLAS APP with your vessel information, such as vessel name, call sign and MMSI. This will be integrated into the distress call procedure along with the coordinates of the alert.
The screens offer brief reminders on the best techniques to rescue an MOB when under sail and when under motor.
Call Emergency Number
The emergency number feature allows you to pre-select your local emergency number, such as 112 in Europe. This feature is accessed in Emergency information. Alternatively there is the option to enter a personal emergency number such as a sister vessel contact number.
In an MOB situation you can select which number you wish to call.
