WET&FORGET is used all over the world to keep boats, marinas and harbours clean and safe for their customers. It keeps GRP sparkling and wood clean without scrubbing. It is used extensively to remove mould and slippery algae from walkways, pontoons, slipways, paths and walls. Whether used on plastic, wood or concrete, Wet and Forget will keep everything clean and safe for up to a year.
WET&FORGET is safe on Dacron, Mylar, Kevlar and Carbon Fibre. It's also great for cleaning sail covers, dodgers and sheets. Because Wet & Forget is a specially formulated surface biocide, it's non-caustic, non-acid and no bleach. This means you can use Wet & Forget on ANY outdoor surface, thereby keeping your yacht/boat or equipment (including your house and it's environment) looking like new all year around.
When diluted with water and applied, it immediately attacks that unsightly moss, mould, gunge and grime. Each time it rains, this safe, cleansing combination reactivates to help flush the moss, mould, gunge and grime without scouring the surface it has infested.
Wet & Forget is the safest, most effective way of removing moss, mould & gunge from ANY exterior surface. When applied, it immediately attacks that unsightly moss, mould, gunge & grime. Then Mother Nature takes over. The weathering process gently takes the decomposing material away bit by bit.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I change the specified ratios given in the instructions?
Yes. For instance if the contamination is extreme, increase the strength for a quicker reaction. However, if you have cleaned the surface previously with Wet and Forget and you want to give it just a maintenance spray, you can decrease the strength if the contamination is light. The cleaning process will still be just as effective.
- What is the dilution rate and coverage area?
Dilute Wet & Forget 1 part to 5 parts water. Every 5 Litre pack yields 30 litres of product to spray. With this you will get coverage of between 100 - 300 sq m depending on the porosity of the surface. ie painted surfaces will use less but porous surfaces readily absorb the product and therefore coverage could be in the range of 100-150sq m .
- When is the best time to apply the product?
On a cool dry windless day and when no rain is expected for 4-5 hours. Often the evening is best when evaporation of the product is minimal. This will ensure that the surface to be treated stays wet with Wet & Forget for an extended period.
- Do I have to use it all at once?
No, but good planning is essential. Work to a pattern so you know where you have started and stopped. The product is fine if left in the spray container as it does not deteriorate when it has been diluted. Plus it will not damage your garden sprayer as the product is not corrosive.
- How long will it last in the container?
Forever and light does not damage the efficiency of the product. But always keep the cap done up tightly and the container out of reach of children.
- How long will it take to work?
It is totally dependent on the intensity of the contamination. If it is really light you will see results within days. Otherwise it may take approximately 2-3 months to see improvements. Your concrete may turn an orangy brown when the Wet & Forget is applied. This is normal and shows you have had a good reaction. The discoloration will dissipate over a short period of time and is not permanent. The good news is that when you use it again the following season, the clean up will occur within weeks. In the very worst case scenario where contamination is extreme, it may take 6-12months.
- If I am on tank water, can I use Wet and Forget on my roof?
Sure can. But you must disconnect the water supply to your tank for 3-4 weeks and have at least 5mm of rain to remove the concentrate. Wet & Forget has been used in rural communities for over 25 years to treat contaminated and "gungy" roofs.
- Will it affect my pets?
Not under normal circumstances. However, keep your precious animals off the treated surface until it is dry, to ensure they don't ingest any of the product. If they accidentally walk or sit in the product wash their feet and bottoms with fresh water as a precaution.
- Will it damage my plants?
Not unless you are directly spraying it onto the plants. If you accidentally do this, then rinse the plants down with water from the hose, or better still, protect them with paper or plastic to avoid overspray.
- Will it remove the gunge off my timber decks?
Most definitely! But if your deck is older and has never been cleaned, it may be noticeably blackened with the contamination. In this case, it would be advantageous to wait a month after the application of Wet & Forget and give the area a light brush with a broom or scrubbing brush with warm water to remove it. The good news is that you should only have to do this once and then the maintenance becomes so easy.
- Will Wet & Forget get moss out of lawns?
Sure will! Moss on lawns Firstly lightly water the lawn but not enough to saturate the moss. Do this late in the day when the sun is low so that evaporation is kept to a minimum. Dilute the 5Litre Wet & Forget 7 parts water to 1 part Wet & Forget and spot spray the moss. You may have to give it a couple of goes until you have it under control. At worst you may get slight burning on the grass but it will recover very quickly. Rake the dead moss out. Broadcast area with garden lime to change the ph levels. If it's early spring or autumn, overseed & fertilise

- Third best liquid ever invented. Only Beer and petrol beat it, just!!
- Usually when something is too good to be true beware! Not in this case. Wet and forget is fantastic. Since using it (for two years now) keeping the boat "green free" is easy. I keep my boat on the Clyde where it is wet and warm, green loves this. I put a few glugs out of the can in a bucket, fill with water, and use a soft deck brush to spread it over all the dodgers, spray hood, ropes, teak, etc. etc. They just stay green free. If I see any signs of green, I just spray it with a rose sprayer, and next time I go to the boat it has all gone. I use a weaker mix than the instructions say, so it goes a long way. The really good news is the sails. I lower them on a calm day, then as I hoist them I soak both sides of the sails with diluted wet and forget and when they are soaked in the stuff I roll them away all wet. If there was any green to see, it has all gone next time I use them (even in amongst the stitching). I usually do this three times a year,( it only takes half an hour) and my sails always look new. If I ever do need to wash the sails I do them on the boat the same way, and when I have washed them, I soak them in Wet and Forget and put them away wet. It really does work. I usually treat my teak with Snappy Teak twice a year, and the Wet and Forget keeps it clean it between. My boat is coming on for six years old, and everything looks new, including the teak. Like I said, it comes a very close third to beer and petrol when it comes to man made fluids! Incredible stuff!!!
- WOW! What a result!
I can’t remember the last time I advised friends or colleagues to purchase any product to do with boats. In the past I’ve found so many advertisements have promised the ‘Earth’ and yet fail to deliver what it says on the label, (I’m sure some of my failures must reflect my incompetence in following instructions). So when I was introduced to ‘WET & FORGET’ my expectations weren’t particularly high. Thankfully the instructions were simple to follow. Advertised as a mould, lichen and algae remover, and having tried numerous other methods of removing greenery from the deck, lines and sail covers of my boat I thought I’d give it a go………
In the past I’ve sprayed the inside of my wheel house to remove mould with the best products DIY shops could supply.
I’ve always been nervous of using any product containing bleach. Always disappointed when I pick the winch and sail covers out of the washing machine and they still have a green tint to them. Always disheartened after spending hours scrubbing sail covers and yes, you’ve guessed it, in the end they’re still covered in greenery……..
But WOW! What a result! . . . . . WET & FORGET is so understated.
I bought a 5L (this is diluted to make 30L) container from Storrars, My greenery was so advanced I used a 2:1 ratio. I thought in a few weeks time I may see a difference and at best the boat would be a little less green.
In three days from spraying WET & FORGET I was amazed to see a huge difference. Sail covers, lines, deck surfaces were virtually devoid of greenery. Since the initial treatment I’ve sprayed the affected areas again just to make sure.
I bought a cheap pressure garden hand spray in which to mix the WET & FORGET with water and have used very little of my 5L.
I’ll not go into the detail of how this amazing product works but will just reiterate what it says on the label.
No water blasting
No caustic materials
No elbow grease.
If you wish to see the evidence of the results of using WET & FORGET you’re welcome to come and see the boat.
I had a quick look at the other boats tied up on my pontoon. More than two thirds of them had the dreaded greenery growing on their decks and equipment. There are another five pontoons worth of boats in the marina plus those on the ‘hard’. I can’t believe WET & FORGET has been in use in New Zealand for the past thirty years and they’ve managed to keep it a secret.
- very impressed
Recently tried Wet & Forget on tread master and am very impressed. Only wish I’d discovered W&F sooner. What I am going to do with all my spare time (not scrubbing)?
You might want to take a pic for promotional purposes (my commission 10%)
- Take it from me. It's worth its weight in gold.
Following years of green mould/algae problems with my fencing and increased water bills with the excessive use of power washers I decided to give 'Wet & Forget' a try.
What can I say. It's truly a miracle in liquid form. I couldn't believe that you just applied it and left it (outstanding results are never that easy) but you do and it works. It only took 3 days!!
- Thank you “Wet & Forget” for helping me enjoy my garden all year long!
I can not recommend “Wet & Forget” too highly and I know of no other product that can touch it. If you have the problem of persistent algae then this is absolutely the answer!
