Product Description

The Oyster 6 HP Big Foot is powered by a 135 cc single-cylinder SOHC four-stroke engine, designed for responsive acceleration and exceptional fuel economy. Operating within the 5 500 – 6 000 rpm range, it produces consistent torque across the entire rev band, allowing smooth control even at low speeds. The single-overhead-camshaft layout and lightweight internal components reduce friction losses and mechanical noise, while Selva’s precision carburetion system maintains a clean burn and steady idle. The result is a quiet, economical engine that delivers more thrust per litre of fuel, extending cruising range and lowering operating costs.

Built for endurance, the Big Foot gearbox is engineered to withstand constant use in salt- or freshwater environments. Its reinforced casing supports a larger-than-standard propeller, converting torque into forward motion efficiently even under load. The Long Shaft (L) version offers greater propeller immersion, providing improved grip and stability on deeper-draft hulls and sailing boats. Constructed from corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy and protected by Selva’s multi-layer marine coating, the Oyster 6 HP resists the harsh effects of salt and UV exposure. The pump-forced water-cooling system maintains optimal operating temperature, ensuring smooth running and mechanical longevity.

Starting is quick and dependable thanks to Selva’s recoil-assist mechanism and precision ignition timing. The twist-grip tiller provides intuitive throttle control, and the engine’s low weight makes handling, installation, and transport effortless. Vibration-dampening mounts reduce fatigue during long operation, while the five-position manual trim allows adjustment of the running angle to suit load or sea state. The Oyster 6 HP Big Foot is also available in a remote-control version, giving helmsmen greater flexibility for fixed mounting on sailing or auxiliary craft. Compact, quiet, and practical, it offers the reassurance of reliable power whenever it’s needed. Lightweight yet powerful, the Selva Oyster 6HP Big Foot 4-Stroke Outboard Engine (Long Shaft) combines Selva’s hallmark simplicity with exceptional torque and fuel efficiency, an adaptable propulsion solution for any small craft or auxiliary application.
