At the heart of the Swordfish 100XS lies Selva’s advanced 2 670 cc DOHC 16-valve powerhead an engine architecture that provides generous mid-range torque and superb top-end performance. The Electronic Fuel Injection system delivers finely metered fuel through a single throttle body, ensuring seamless acceleration and stable idling across the 5 000–6 000 rpm range. Long tuned plastic intake manifolds enhance airflow velocity, improving volumetric efficiency and throttle sensitivity. The newly integrated knock-control sensor continually refines ignition timing, allowing the ECU to maintain maximum performance while protecting the engine under varying load or fuel quality. The result is class-leading smoothness, instant response, and reduced consumption compared to conventional 4-stroke systems.

Built for strength without excess weight, the Swordfish 100XS employs a corrosion-resistant aluminium block and a reinforced lower unit designed to transmit power efficiently through Selva’s precision gearset. Its Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) layout ensures accurate valve control and superior airflow at high rpm, while the compact multi-valve cylinder head reduces mass and improves heat dissipation. The water-cooling circuit, driven by a high-output impeller, maintains consistent operating temperatures even under heavy throttle. All external components are coated with Selva’s multi-layer anti-corrosion system, ensuring longevity in saltwater environments. The Long Shaft (L) configuration provides deeper propeller immersion and more stable thrust for medium to large hulls.

Electronic starting and EFI integration make ignition instant and reliable in all conditions, while balanced crankshaft geometry and vibration-dampening mounts provide remarkably smooth operation. Power delivery is progressive and quiet, ideal for long cruising runs. Maintenance access is simplified, key service points such as the oil filter, plugs, and anodes are within easy reach beneath the streamlined cowl.
